Job Description Summary

The Institute for the Environment and Sustainability seeks a visionary leader to provide strategic direction for the interdisciplinary graduate and undergraduate programs. The Director will oversee the core faculty and staff, fostering collaboration with chairs and directors of other academic units to advance the Institute's mission.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive research agenda, securing external funding to support the Institute's growth and impact.
  • Teach courses in environmental science, recruit and advise students, and engage in alumni and donor development.
  • Supervise and mentor faculty and staff, promoting a culture of excellence and innovation.
  • Build and maintain partnerships with external organizations, advancing the Institute's reputation and influence.

Minimum Qualifications:

Required: Ph.D. in Environmental Science or a related field, teaching experience, and a strong research record. Administrative experience and a demonstrated ability to lead an interdisciplinary academic program are essential.

Consideration will be given to applicants with a strong record of interdisciplinary scholarship, externally funded research, and professional experience in applied environmental and sustainability issues.
