Licensed Optician

As a Licensed Optician at BJ's Wholesale Club, you will play a critical role in dispensing spectacles and other optical products to our members. You will work with prescriptions written by optometrists and ophthalmologists, advising and assisting patients with various types of lenses and spectacle frames. Your goal will be to provide exceptional service and ensure a positive experience for our members.
Key Responsibilities- Verify order data entry and compare Rx to original Rx provided from the doctor to ensure accuracy
- Complete proper order filing procedures and deliver sales by providing excellent member service
- Take measurements, select frames, and read prescriptions on the lensometer
- Notify members of product readiness and advance orders in the system
- Handle money-related transactions and provide support with eyeglass adjustments and repairs
- Licensed to work as an optician within the state and keep license up to date and active
- Knowledge of optical products and business practices preferred
- High school diploma, college degree, and/or big box wholesale, retail, and/or optical experience is preferred
- Strong interpersonal skills, organizational skills, and attention to detail required
Most of the time is spent moving about frequently on hard surfaces. There may be a need to occasionally position oneself to examine or scan merchandise, including bending, handling, pulling, reaching, and/or stooping. Frequently requires lifting objects up to 20 pounds.
Located in a comfortable indoor area with frequent exposure to temperature extremes and loud noises. There may be occasional exposure to cleaning agents.
