Job Title: Attorney II

Job Summary: We are seeking a highly skilled Attorney II to join our Law Department. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in legal research, drafting, and communication skills to support senior counsel on a variety of matters, primarily transactional and regulatory compliance.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Work under the direction of an Assistant General Counsel to develop a deeper understanding of NYPA's and its subsidiaries' Business Units and their respective operations.
  • Develop a deeper understanding of NYPA's and its subsidiaries' enabling legislation and related statutes contained in the Public Authorities Law along with other laws, rules, regulations, and Executive Orders impacting NYPA's and its subsidiaries' business activities as well as internal governance and compliance programs.
  • Attend meetings with senior level attorneys and assist in the presentation of legal analyses to business unit clients.
  • Research legal issues and draft opinions or memoranda analyzing potential impacts on NYPA's and its subsidiaries' programs and related business activities.
  • Develop relationships with business unit clients and gain a deeper understanding of their programmatic legal needs.
Requirements:
  • Juris Doctor Degree, admission to the New York State Bar, and admitted to practice in New York State and Federal courts is required.
  • Minimum 2 years of legal experience.
  • Experience in one or more of the following areas: energy, regulatory, litigation, commercial, and finance, and employment.
  • Experience in the utility industry is preferred.
