We are seeking a highly skilled Principal Engineer - Mechanical to join our team at Arcadis. As a key member of our design team, you will be responsible for overseeing the work and development of multiple colleagues working on complex projects across multiple disciplines.

The successful candidate will have a strong background in mechanical engineering, with a focus on design and delivery of water and wastewater treatment systems, drainage and pumping stations. They will also have experience in managing project teams, applying quality management systems, and working with relevant British Standards.

Key responsibilities will include owning technical delivery and project management responsibilities, overseeing the work and/or development of multiple colleagues, and managing the production and verification of analysis and design. The ideal candidate will also have strong influencing, motivating, and delegation skills, as well as a strong command of BIM/digital/data analytics software.

We are looking for a candidate who is a registered or accredited professional, preferably MIMechE with CEng/IEng or chartered/included member of similar standing relevant professional organization. They will also have experience in mechanical design, specifications, drawings, and BIM models for large-scale projects related to water and wastewater treatment plants, pumping stations, and other related structures.

The successful candidate will be responsible for developing technical methodologies that add value to the scope from other Arcadis Regions, guiding junior colleagues, and reviewing work to drive the culture of checking and accountability in the team. They will also be responsible for liaising and assisting the project manager to ensure commercial aspects relating to the design team can achieve a successful result.

Key Qualifications and Experience:

  • Engineer with Post Graduation in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering
  • 14+ years relevant experience in design of water and wastewater treatment systems, drainage and pumping stations
  • Registered or accredited professional, preferably MIMechE with CEng/IEng or chartered/included member of similar standing relevant professional organization
  • Application of quality management systems and managing project teams
  • Knowledge of relevant British Standards
  • Demonstrated ability to lead, with good influencing, motivating and delegation skills
  • Strong command of BIM/digital/data analytics software as applicable
  • Demonstrated delivery acumen
