Job Overview

North Shore Community Health is seeking a highly skilled Medical Assistant to join our team. As a Medical Assistant, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional patient care and supporting our healthcare team.

Responsibilities
  • Provide outstanding customer service to internal and external customers
  • Screen patients according to established protocols, including height, weight, urine testing, hematocrits, vision testing, blood pressure, and PHQ-9
  • Prepare paperwork for referrals as needed
  • Provide translation services as needed
  • Set up for procedures as listed under the MA competency checklist
  • Obtain tests as delineated under the MA competency checklist
  • Perform tasks within the EMR as listed in the MA competency checklist
  • Participate in orders, hospital discharge, and ER tracking
  • Clean and stock exam rooms
  • Perform quality assurance tests as necessary
  • Maintain an inventory control system
  • Maintain sterilization statistics
  • Answer phone or EMR messages when needed
  • Contact patients as needed, via letter, telephone, or patient portal
  • Schedule patients as needed
  • Maintain HIPAA integrity and confidentiality of medical records
  • Copies and faxes documents as needed
Requirements
  • Graduate of a Medical Assistant program
  • Two years' experience in a community-based or ambulatory care setting
  • Completion or willingness to complete Basic Life Support training (CPR)
  • Ability to work effectively as part of the team
  • Willingness to be flexible about work assignments
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Bilingual, especially Spanish or Portuguese, a plus
  • Current vaccination against pertussis and tetanus
  • Competency in working with Microsoft Office Suite and GE Centricity a plus
