Key Responsibilities:
- Communicate with residents and staff in a respectful and dignified manner.
- Demonstrate a willingness to learn about medications and stay updated on best practices.
- Utilize drug manuals and resources as necessary.
- Build positive relationships with residents, visitors, and team members.
- Exhibit emotional and physical stamina to assist residents with their daily living activities.
- Maintain self-control in communication and body language.
- Show a genuine passion for caring for the elderly population.
- Exhibit qualities of responsibility, diplomacy, and teamwork.
- Possess the physical endurance required for active duties.
- Occasionally lift items weighing up to 40 pounds.
Specific Qualifications:
- Must be at least 18 years old.
- Previous experience with medication assistance is preferred.
- Experience working with the elderly, whether professional, personal, or volunteer, is preferred.
Core Duties:
Medication Management:
- Conduct controlled substance counts with outgoing staff and initial if accurate.
- Report any discrepancies in controlled substances to management.
- Prepare and deliver medications to residents during meal times and assist as needed.
- Assist residents with medication requirements before meals and during designated times.
- Ensure residents take their medications under supervision and document appropriately.
- Update medication administration records following physician visits and ensure alignment with doctor's orders.
- Ensure residents have all necessary documents for medical appointments.
- Communicate with medical offices for clarifications as needed.
- Document relevant resident information in the 24-hour log book.
Personal Care Support:
- Assist residents during meal times by serving food and cleaning up afterward.
- Provide snacks to residents during evening hours.
- Support residents with bathing and maintaining personal hygiene.
- Assist with laundry and upkeep of residents' clothing and linens.
- Help residents with mobility challenges as required.
- Respond to call bells and monitor residents during rounds.
- Assist residents with elevator use and perform light housekeeping tasks as needed.
- Report any important information to the supervising Personal Care Aide.
