POSITION OVERVIEW:

Under the guidance of the Facilities Director, the Part-Time Cleaning Technician is responsible for ensuring that all areas remain tidy and well-maintained, encompassing both indoor and outdoor spaces. Responsibilities may include performing minor maintenance tasks, preparing for events, procuring supplies, and executing other related assignments as directed.

This role is crucial in managing these responsibilities in alignment with the mission, objectives, and policies set forth by the administrative team, governing bodies, and Board of Directors of the YMCA.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Exemplifies relationship-building skills in all interactions with participants, families, staff, and leadership.
  • Maintains consistent, clear, and effective communication within the designated area of responsibility.
  • Ensures a safe environment through meticulous attention to detail. Keeps the YMCA appealing and clean by fulfilling all tasks outlined in the daily schedule and maintaining the upkeep of assigned areas and equipment.
  • May carry out tasks such as wet and dry mopping, dusting, waste disposal, recycling, window cleaning, pool maintenance, painting, vacuuming, seasonal lawn care, snow removal, and general cleaning duties.
  • Operates both motorized and non-motorized cleaning equipment.
  • Assists with various maintenance-related tasks as requested.
  • Documents and reports all necessary repairs; performs repairs as instructed.
  • Ensures the security of YMCA buildings and property during shifts and reports incidents and hazardous conditions to the supervisor.
  • Replenishes soap, paper towels, and other essential supplies.
  • May arrange furniture for events.
  • Available to work evenings and weekends to ensure coverage and support for staff on each shift.
  • Responsible for stocking supplies as needed to maintain facility readiness.
  • Demonstrates relationship-building skills in all interactions. Develops and sustains collaborative relationships with community organizations. Maintains consistent, clear, and effective communication within the designated area of responsibility.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the Supervisor.
WORK SCHEDULE:

Days: Monday; Tuesday; Wednesday; Thursday; Saturday; Sunday

Hours: 5pm-9pm M-Thu, 9am-4pm Sat, 1pm-5pm Sun

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Preferred six months or more of relevant experience.
  • Minimum age requirement is 16 years old.
  • Ability to read and interpret instructions, procedures, manuals, and other documents.
  • Ability to report and document maintenance requests.
  • Knowledge of cleaning techniques and equipment.
  • Basic understanding of equipment maintenance and care.
  • Familiarity with cleaning agents and chemicals, and their safe, effective use.
  • Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups from all social and economic backgrounds.
  • Ability to work independently, plan, and organize tasks.
  • Must obtain certification in Basic Life Support/First Aid and Emergency Oxygen within the first 30 days of employment.
  • Multi-lingual skills are desirable but not mandatory.
