Job Summary:

APIC Solutions is seeking a highly skilled Fire Alarm Lead Technician/Programmer to join our team. As a key member of our Fire Alarm/Low Voltage sector, you will be responsible for installing, programming, and troubleshooting fire alarm panels, wiring, and associated devices. You will also provide guidance, training, and direction to lower-level installers at worksites.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Install and troubleshoot fire alarm panels, wiring, and associated devices.
  • Provide reliable, high-quality customer support.
  • Provide customer instruction on system operation and functionality.
  • Perform system testing and signal verification.
  • Maintain necessary truck stock/inventory (equipment and tools).
  • Organize and utilize technical resources, information, material, and support to ensure efficient execution of assigned tasks.
  • Ensure progress and completion of assigned tasks.
  • Provide documentation of service and hours worked.
  • Complete and submit all required task-related activities, productivity, and other documentation in a timely manner.

Requirements:

  • Five (5) or more years of experience in fire alarm systems installation and programming.
  • Mastery knowledge of enterprise fire alarm systems and integrated systems.
  • Full understanding of local/national codes.
  • Proficiency knowledge of OSHA, HAZCOM Regulations, and comprehension of national electronic code, state, and local construction codes.
  • Strong communication/leadership skills when working with others.
  • Ability to determine and implement resolution to complex field situations.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to lead others and manage multiple projects.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to clear a drug screening.

Certifications/Licenses/Knowledge:

  • ES-3J Journeyman Low Voltage Systems (Required)
  • NICET Level II (Or Higher) Certification for fire alarm systems (Preferred)
  • Edwards IO Series Cert.
  • Edwards EST3 Programming Cert.
  • Edwards EST4 Programming Cert.
  • FireLite Programming

Physical Requirements:

  • Regularly required to stand, walk, sit, twist, use hands to handle, reach with hands and arms, push, pull, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl, talk, and hear.
  • Use vision abilities including close, distance, peripheral, depth, and color.
  • Work in unusual and sometimes difficult positions/circumstances such as with ladders, scaffolding, high lift equipment, wires, ducts, crawl spaces, attics, above ceilings, etc.
  • Lift, move, and hold up to approximately 50 lbs.
  • Must be able to work a full-time, flexible schedule with 'on call availability' and must be able to travel on short notice.
  • Must be able to drive a motor vehicle (day and evenings) for extended time periods.
