Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Registered Nurse to join our team in Student Health Services. As a Per Diem Registered Nurse, you will provide high-quality patient care in an ambulatory care setting, working closely with our healthcare team to ensure the best possible outcomes for our students.

Key Responsibilities
  • Clinical Responsibilities:
    • Assess and triage patients in an ambulatory care setting, consistent with the health services policies and philosophies.
    • Identify nursing needs of the patient and deliver them as defined by the nursing practice parameters of the NY state licensing board.
    • Promote service standards and create a patient-focused caring environment while addressing and meeting the individual needs of the patient.
    • Assess patient's education needs and provide instructions or referrals to appropriate providers.
    • Communicate effectively with the healthcare team to improve patient care.
    • Demonstrate patient advocacy, assuring patients' rights to privacy, safety, and confidentiality.
    • Demonstrate responsibility and accountability for individual nursing practice with respect to nursing judgment and actions associated with the performance of all duties.
    • Foster an environment of collaboration and respect with nurse practitioners, physician colleagues, nurses, NP students and faculty, and other healthcare team members.
    • Maintain compassionate and caring relationships with all colleagues and others, with a commitment to the fair treatment of individuals, to integrity-preserving compromise, and to resolving conflict.
    • Demonstrate responsibility to preserve integrity and safety with respect to others and self, to maintain competence, and to continue personal and professional growth.
    • Independently perform assigned duties and responsibilities.
  • Outreach and Education:
    • Seek educational opportunities for professional growth, sharing information learned with other staff as appropriate.
    • Maintain active membership in national and regional professional health organizations.
    • Attend and/or participate in University meetings and in-service offerings as needed.
    • Serve as an advocate for student health on campus, including communication of information about Student Health Services to the student population.
  • Qualifications:
    • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing, with a minimum of a Bachelor's degree.
    • An active, current unencumbered New York State Registered Nurse license.
    • A minimum of two years of experience as an RN, with at least one year in an ambulatory care or emergency department setting.
    • Basic Life Support certification.
