Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Ironworker to join our team at Brown & Root. As an Ironworker, you will be responsible for installing and repairing structural steel components in a variety of settings.

Key Responsibilities
  • Set up and operate hoisting equipment to lift and place structural steel members
  • Fasten steel members to hoisting cables using chains, cables, or ropes
  • Signal hoisting equipment operators to lift and place steel members
  • Guide steel members into position using tag lines
  • Pull, push, or pry steel members into approximate position while supported by hoisting devices
  • Force members into final position using turnbuckles, crowbars, jacks, and hand tools
  • Align bolt holes in steel members using drift pins or spud wrenches
  • Verify vertical and horizontal alignment of members using plumb bobs and levels
  • Cut and weld steel members to make alterations using oxyacetylene welding equipment and supplies
  • Load, transport, and unload materials, tools, equipment, and supplies
  • Assist in lifting, positioning, and securing materials and work pieces during installation
  • Perform minor maintenance and cleaning activities on tools and equipment
Requirements
  • Work within precise limits to standards of accuracy
  • Apply shop mathematics to solve problems
  • Plan work and select proper tools
  • Compare and see differences in size, shape, and form of lines, figures, and objects
  • Picture solid objects from drawings or diagrams
  • Rate information using standards that can be measured or checked
Qualifications

A high school diploma or equivalent is required, along with previous experience in the field or a related area. Knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures within a particular field is necessary.
