The Certified Surgical Technologist plays a vital role in the perioperative team, ensuring a safe and efficient surgical environment. As a key member of the operating room staff, this individual will be responsible for preparing and maintaining the sterile field, handling instruments and supplies, and assisting the surgical team during procedures.
Key Responsibilities:- Prepare and organize operating room equipment, instruments, and supplies for various surgical procedures
- Assist in maintaining the sterile field by applying principles of aseptic techniques and informing the surgical team of infractions
- Provide instruments and supplies to the surgical team during procedures
- Clean, wrap, and prepare instruments for sterilization
- Take care of specimens, prepare, check, and monitor medications, and assist with dressings
- Associates Degree or Vocational Certification in Surgical Technology
- Graduate of an accredited surgical technologist program
- Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) certification
- Basic Life Support (BLS) – American Heart Association
- Minimum of one year perioperative experience, can include military training for surgical technologists and/or operating room technicians
