Position Overview

Job Summary

The Certified Nursing Assistant II plays a vital role in delivering patient care under the direct oversight of a Registered Nurse. This position is essential in ensuring a hygienic and secure environment for patients while executing responsibilities with safety as a priority. The CNA II maintains clinical and professional skills that align with the specific needs of the patient demographic served.

Key Responsibilities

1. Assist patients/residents with daily living activities.
2. Support personal hygiene for patients/residents.
3. Measure and record vital signs, height, and weight.
4. Aid in feeding and mobility of patients/residents following established protocols.
5. Keep patient/resident rooms tidy and organized.
6. Monitor and report any changes in patient/resident conditions.
7. Guide patients and families in understanding unit protocols and safety measures.
8. Perform clerical tasks such as answering phones, data entry, and maintaining medical documentation.
9. Manage inventory of supply items effectively.

10. Execute duties as outlined in the Nurse Aide II scope of practice as defined by relevant nursing boards.

11. Conduct technical tasks with appropriate training, including administering a 12-Lead Electrocardiogram and routine venipuncture.


Physical Requirements

This role requires physical activities such as walking, standing, sitting, lifting, reaching, bending, stretching, stooping, pushing, and pulling. The ability to lift and support up to 35 pounds is necessary for handling patients, medical equipment, and supplies. Proficiency in English communication is essential. Manual dexterity is required, and physical abilities testing may be mandated.

Education, Experience, and Certifications

- A High School Diploma or GED is mandatory for new hires.
- Current registration with the Nurse Aide Registry as a Certified Nursing Assistant II is required.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is necessary as per policy guidelines.

Demonstrates understanding of growth and development principles, showcasing skills and competencies that are appropriate for the ages, cultures, developmental stages, and unique needs of the patient population served.

Access to protected health information (PHI) will be limited to what is necessary for job functions. Information sharing will occur only on a need-to-know basis for work-related purposes.

Machines, Tools, and Equipment

Utilization of equipment required by the unit, including but not limited to blood pressure monitors, stethoscopes, thermometers, personal protective gear, wheelchairs, stretchers, utility carts, and other clinical apparatus.
