Culinary Specialist

Hilton Harrisburg is seeking a dedicated Culinary Specialist to join our esteemed kitchen team.
Role Objective:
To expertly prepare a variety of food items while adhering to production demands and quality benchmarks, ensuring a safe and sanitary workspace. Our goal is to provide guests with warm, knowledgeable service that confirms their choice to dine with us.
- Prepare food items according to established recipes and guest specifications, maintaining consistency and high guest satisfaction.
- Manage daily inventory requests for supplies and food items needed for meal preparation.
- Conduct visual inspections and select only the finest ingredients for all menu offerings.
- Ensure proper storage of products and maintain portion control to uphold quality standards.
- Keep all refrigeration units, equipment, and work areas clean and compliant with health regulations.
- Possess a solid understanding of sanitation standards.
- Demonstrate proficiency in operating kitchen equipment including stoves, ovens, and slicers.
- Have a comprehensive knowledge of food and beverage preparation and service.
- Report maintenance issues promptly.
- Receive and store food deliveries properly.
- Engage with kitchen management and other departments related to the Food & Beverage sector on a daily basis.
- Contribute to long-term planning initiatives.
- Support and recommend improvements for ongoing hotel programs.
- Participate in physical inventory assessments.
- Exhibit professionalism and courtesy towards guests at all times.
- Adhere to all Company Standard Operating Procedures.
- Be an enthusiastic and supportive team member.
- Demonstrate professionalism and maturity in behavior.
- Foster a friendly and encouraging atmosphere among co-workers.

Qualifications:
A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
Relevant experience in a similar role is preferred.
Key Abilities:
- Ability to communicate effectively in the primary language(s) used in the workplace.
- Strong reading and writing skills to facilitate communication.
- Good verbal and written communication skills are essential.
- Basic computational skills are necessary.
- Ability to read and follow recipes accurately.
- Capability to demonstrate culinary techniques, including cutting and cooking methods.
- Ability to create and maintain buffet displays and manage their setup and breakdown.
- Comfortable working in varying temperatures, including extreme cold and heat.
- Ability to stand and maintain mobility for extended periods.
- Physical capability to handle kitchen tools and lift items up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to maneuver in a busy kitchen environment.
- Must be able to perform tasks that require bending, lifting, and pushing/pulling equipment.
- Requires good manual dexterity for operating kitchen equipment.
- Ability to obtain any necessary licenses or permits.
