Job Overview

Fargo Public Schools seeks a highly skilled Behavioral Support Specialist to join its team. This role is ideal for individuals passionate about education and behavioral support.

Responsibilities
  • Student Behavior Management: Collaborate with the Board-Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) and Multi-Tier System of Supports (MTSS) team to implement behavior support plans using discrete trial training, shaping and chaining, prompting, and differential reinforcement.
  • Professional Development: Maintain, acquire, and expand knowledge in applied behavior analysis, trauma-informed practices, and restorative practices. Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance skills and stay updated on best practices.
  • General Support: Contribute to the implementation of special projects, provide general student supervision, and participate in staff meetings as needed.
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent: Required.
  • Applied Behavior Analysis Training: 40 hours of training prior to hire or within four months from hire date.
  • Experience Working with Complex Behaviors: One year of experience in human services, education, or a similar field.
  • Strong Content Knowledge: Familiarity with core academic areas, including literacy and math.
  • Maintaining Composure Under Stress: Ability to remain calm in high-pressure situations.
  • Strong Communication and Problem-Solving Skills: Excellent communication and problem-solving skills are essential for success in this role.
Compensation

The estimated salary for this position is $22.54-$28.03 per hour, which translates to approximately $45,880-$58,450 per year, based on a 9-month contract. Once the required training is completed, the hourly rate will increase accordingly.
