Purpose Statement:

Northstar Behavioral Health Network is seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Staff Psychotherapist to join our team. As a key member of our mental health services team, you will work alongside our integrated team of professionals to provide psychotherapy to clients and help them achieve mental soundness, emotional balance, social adjustment, physical well-being, and spiritual aliveness.

Key Result Areas:

  • Conduct initial mental health screens for new clients within the first 3 days of arrival and complete diagnostic assessments within 10 days.
  • Maintain a minimum of 25 direct client contact hours per week, including individual and group psychotherapy, and substance use group facilitation.
  • Complete all substance use documentation on the day of service and mental health documentation within 72 hours.
  • Track client progress and maintain accurate documentation.
  • Attend weekly multidisciplinary clinical staffing meetings and departmental clinical consultation meetings.
  • Meet quarterly peer review internal documentation review process requirements.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Adhere to MN State Statutes, code of ethics, insurance requirements, and Northstar's policy and procedures.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date client records.
  • Complete continuing education courses to maintain professional licensure.
  • Attend in-house training, staff meetings, and consultations.
  • Hold a caseload of clients and provide comprehensive psychotherapeutic care.
  • Coordinate care with other providers on the client's care team.

Requirements:

  • Must be a Licensed Mental Health Professional in the State of Minnesota (LP, LICSW, LMFT, LPCC, or provisionally licensed LPC, LAMFT, LCSW, or clinical trainee).
  • Must be eligible for credentialing with insurers.
  • Minimum requirement of a master's degree.
  • Demonstrate competent use of DSM-V and evidence-based approaches.
  • CPR certification or attain within 30 days of hire.
  • Two years of freedom from chemical use problems.
  • Pass a State of Minnesota Background Check.
  • Current Minnesota Driver's License with an acceptable driving record.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs and other computer skills.

Additional Skills and Experience:

  • Familiarity with Procentive.
  • Training or certification in evidence-based modalities such as CBT, ACT, SFBT, DBT, EMDR, Brain Spotting, etc.
  • Strong motivational interviewing skills.
  • Ability to work independently, think critically, and cultivate a solution-focused mindset.
  • Flexibility and willingness to adapt to change.
  • Effective communication and collaboration skills.
