About the Role

AECOM is seeking a highly skilled Lead Microgrid Solution Architect to join our Engineering Center of Excellence within the Energy practice. As a key member of our team, you will play a critical role in supporting clean energy initiatives and delivering innovative microgrid solutions to our clients.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead by example in engineering execution, serving as a technical lead on distributed energy resources projects.
  • Perform engineering calculations to support and direct construction deliverables, including specifications, reports, and drawings.
  • Originate and support the development of document designs, drawings, sequence of operations, equipment specifications, system approval test procedures, and other system-related information for feasibility through detailed design project scopes.
  • Support projects through the complete life cycle, including feasibility, preliminary and detailed design, issue-for-bid, construction, start-up, and commissioning.
  • Evaluate the feasibility of installing microgrid systems at new or existing client facilities, considering physical and electrical infrastructure constraints.
  • Produce conceptual designs that incorporate various energy resources, including renewables, thermal generation, and battery storage, to meet financial, resilience, and environmental goals.
  • Develop financial models of microgrid revenue generation to optimize sizing of generation and energy storage capacity.
  • Perform power system studies to validate equipment ratings and verify reliable operation of the microgrid during grid-tied and islanded system operation.
  • Collaborate with multi-discipline technical leads to integrate mechanical energy generation assets and complete LV/MV wiring and power designs for full-spectrum distributed energy client solutions.
  • Participate in and present engineering work at client meetings, including occasional travel.
  • Work with Project Engineers and Project Managers to develop design schedules and budgets for engineering work activities.
  • Support company business development activities related to renewable and decentralized energy projects.
