We are seeking a highly skilled Nurse Practitioner to join our Allergy and Immunology team at NYC Health + Hospitals. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in allergy and immunology, with experience in evaluating, diagnosing, and managing allergic conditions and immunologic disorders in pediatric and adult patients.
Key Responsibilities- Conduct thorough assessments of patients presenting with allergic symptoms and immunologic disorders, including medical history reviews, physical examinations, and interpretation of allergy testing results.
- Collaborate with allergists and immunologists to develop individualized treatment plans for patients with allergic rhinitis, asthma, food allergies, eczema, urticaria, angioedema, and other allergic conditions.
- Perform and interpret allergy testing procedures, including skin prick tests, patch tests, and specific IgE blood tests, to identify allergens and sensitivities and guide treatment decisions.
- Provide education and counseling to patients and their families on allergy triggers, avoidance measures, medication management, immunotherapy options, and emergency response plans for anaphylaxis.
- Prescribe and administer immunotherapy (allergy shots) and biologic therapies as indicated for allergic diseases and asthma, monitoring treatment response and adverse reactions closely.
- Manage acute allergic reactions and exacerbations of allergic conditions, providing prompt evaluation, treatment, and follow-up care in outpatient and urgent care settings.
- Coordinate care across healthcare settings and specialties, collaborating with primary care providers, specialists, and ancillary services to address patients' holistic needs and optimize outcomes.
- A valid New York State license and current registration to practice as a Registered Professional Nurse issued by the New York State Department of Education (NYSED); and
- Current certificate as a Nurse Practitioner issued by the NYSED; and
- Holds, or obtains through facility orientation, a valid and current certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) through the American Heart Association (AHA).
