About the Position

The College of Engineering and Computing at George Mason University is seeking a highly skilled Academic Advisor to join our team. As an Academic Advisor, you will play a critical role in supporting the academic success of our students, providing guidance on course selection, degree progress, and career goals.

Key Responsibilities
  • Advise undergraduate students on academic planning, course selection, and degree progress
  • Assist students with registration, overrides, and academic requests
  • Provide information on academic policies, procedures, and practices
  • Organize and maintain student records, including advising notes and email exchanges
  • Escalate complex issues or situations with students to Supervisor for guidance
  • Participate in outreach initiatives and organize regular outreach campaigns to reach out to students proactively
  • Perform prerequisite checks for all ME undergraduate courses at the beginning of each semester and verify student eligibility for each class
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Experience with or demonstrated knowledge in academic advising, success coaching, or related fields
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work with diverse populations and provide exceptional customer service
  • Experience with Microsoft Office suite and ability to learn new technology
