Position Responsibilities:
- The Senior Pharmacy Technician executes both fundamental responsibilities (including those of a Pharmacy Technician II) and specialized tasks as designated by departmental leadership. Capable of training new pharmacy technicians and proficient in at least two specialized areas as determined by departmental leadership.
Key Duties:
- Accurately prepares medications for dosage, fills new drug orders, and ensures proper documentation.
- Delivers medications to patient care areas, adhering to established protocols and timelines.
- Conducts routine inventory checks, manages medication storage, and ensures compliance with safety standards.
- Maintains a clean and organized work environment, following departmental policies.
- Assists in the training and orientation of new staff members, sharing knowledge and expertise.
- Participates in departmental educational initiatives and maintains required certifications.
- Reports medication errors and contributes to safety protocols within the pharmacy.
Qualifications:
- A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
- Completion of a pharmacy technician training program is preferred.
- Current registration with the relevant state board of pharmacy as a Pharmacy Technician is mandatory.
- Certification from the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) is required.
