Lactation Consultant

Deliver exceptional breastfeeding management services to optimize patient outcomes.

1. Conduct thorough lactation assessments and develop personalized care plans to address patients' needs.
2. Provide clinical training to healthcare professionals, nurses, and ancillary staff to enhance their lactation knowledge and skills.
3. Participate in discharge planning to ensure patients receive necessary breastfeeding instruction and support.
4. Assist in marketing the lactation program to the community and establish partnerships with local organizations.
5. Maintain accurate and legible patient records and develop reports to track program effectiveness.
6. Design and update staff instruction manuals, review educational materials, and ensure compliance with policies and procedures.
7. Act as a lactation consultant and referral resource for healthcare team members, patients, and their families.
8. Support employee preparation for lactation consultant certification and ensure they have the necessary knowledge and skills.
9. Follow mandatory reporting procedures for any incidents or events that may impact patient care.

CPR certification is required, as per AHA standards, within 30 days of hire.

• Registered Nurse License (for Maryland employees)
• Basic Life Support (BLS)
• Board Certified Lactation Consultant
• Act 31 Child Abuse Reporting with renewal
• Act 33 with renewal
• Act 34 with renewal
• Act 73 FBI Clearance with renewal
