Role Summary:

The Senior Manufacturing Engineer serves as a pivotal technical authority within our production facility, tasked with maintaining high levels of satisfaction for both clients and employees while enhancing the efficiency of resources, materials, and machinery. This role demands proficiency in 3-axis Milling, 5-axis Milling, Turning Lathe, and Multi-Turret/Multi-Spindle Turning Lathe manufacturing processes. The Senior Manufacturing Engineer will also supervise the utilization of MasterCam software by our CNC Programmers.

This position is crucial in supporting Operations, encompassing initial production runs, the development of manufacturing methodologies, modifications to process routers, and the introduction of new products. The Senior Manufacturing Engineer advocates for continuous improvement (Lean) initiatives and provides technical assistance to CNC Operators, Machinists, Programmers, and fellow Engineers. Additionally, this role aids Sales RFQ processes by delivering cost assessments related to machining operations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Production Assistance: Offer ongoing support to resolve manufacturing challenges, including complex technical production issues.
  • Throughput Improvement: Enhance production throughput by evaluating process performance metrics and implementing improvements.
  • New Product Development: Coordinate and closely oversee Manufacturing Engineering and Programming tasks to facilitate New Product Introductions, ensuring adherence to timelines and productivity goals.
  • Quality Control: Guarantee compliance with all quality standards related to process development and risk management.
  • Tooling Oversight: Manage tooling libraries and databases, including setup sheets, sketches, and necessary documentation for accurate CNC tooling design configurations.
  • Mentorship: Act as a mentor to teams, providing direction, resolving technical issues, and achieving project objectives. Guide other Manufacturing Engineers in developing the most efficient manufacturing routes for CNC machining.
  • Best Practices Guidance: Advise and coach Manufacturing Engineers and CNC programmers on best practices and efficient programming and machining methods.
  • Process Assessment: Analyze work processes to identify strategies and programs that enhance productivity and efficiency.
  • Continuous Education: Stay updated on cutting-edge manufacturing equipment, tools, and technologies by attending industry events and engaging with suppliers.
  • Hands-On Engagement: Exhibit a proactive, hands-on approach, applying engineering knowledge and skills to contribute effectively to team efforts.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, preferably Mechanical Engineering.
  • Minimum of 7 years of experience as an Engineer in a Machine Shop Environment.
  • Proficient in Mastercam, current version
  • Familiarity with SolidWorks
  • Expertise in CNC 3-axis Milling, 5-axis Milling, and Turning operations in a precision machine shop.
  • Ability to read, interpret, and follow complex verbal and written instructions, precision drawings, and knowledge of GD&T
  • Experience with Mastercam, current version.
