Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Laboratory Supervisor to join our team at Quest Diagnostics Incorporated. As a Laboratory Supervisor, you will be responsible for planning, organizing, and directing the work of the section to effectively maximize employees, equipment, and material utilization within budgetary constraints while adhering to quality technical standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan, organize, and direct the work of the section to maximize employees, equipment, and material utilization.
- Under the direction of the manager/director, oversee activities of the department, distribute/assign work, determine priorities, and schedule non-routine procedures.
- Perform supervisory functions for assigned staff, including interviewing, hiring, training, and providing staff development through performance evaluation and corrective counseling.
- Perform advanced/specialized tests and other related laboratory techniques, and duplicate work of others to confirm test results.
- Check and approve all specialized and problem reports for accuracy, and initiate quality-control measures and monitor quality of work for adherence to laboratory standards.
- Maintain laboratory areas and equipment in a safe, functional, and sanitary condition, and complete training and competency checklists as appropriate.
- Adhere to all established CLIA, HIPAA, OSHA, and laboratory safety requirements, and use personal protective equipment, engineering controls, and/or work practice controls as directed by management.
Requirements
- Four to six years of full-time experience as a medical technologist or equivalent in a clinical laboratory.
- Previous supervisory experience is preferred.
- Ability to sit or stand for long periods of time, and to lift and carry objects weighing up to 50 pounds.
- Comprehensive theoretical and operational job knowledge in designated specialty, and knowledge of organizational/departmental policies and procedures.
- Proven leadership and problem-solving skills, and ability to work independently, establish work priorities, and handle several tasks simultaneously for maximum department efficiency.
