Mental Health Specialist Job Description

At Union Station Homeless Services, we are seeking a highly skilled Mental Health Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our interdisciplinary team, you will conduct outreach and housing navigation activities with a focus on chronically homeless and highly vulnerable individuals.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct outreach activities to engage chronically homeless individuals toward pursuing permanent housing options.
  • Assess and triage referrals from walk-ins and other collaborative partners.
  • Provide mental health assessments, counseling, and interventions using Recovery Model and Trauma-Informed Care.
  • Connect individuals to other supportive services as needed.
  • Document services and complete data entry into HMIS database.
Requirements:
  • Master's Degree in MSW, MFT, MA or Psychology required.
  • 1 year of experience working with homeless individuals, preferably in an outreach/navigation capacity.
  • Valid California driver's license and access to a properly registered vehicle.
