Position Summary

The Bilingual Spanish Language Specialist will play a vital role in translating various materials from English to Spanish. This position involves collaborating with the Language Services Director and other team members to ensure the effective translation of all approved literature and resources.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in the organization and prioritization of translation tasks.
  • Translate documents, reports, and other materials for events and communications.
  • Review translated content for accuracy and adherence to established guidelines.
  • Coordinate with external Spanish-language contractors for editorial support.
  • Utilize relevant language technologies to enhance translation processes.
  • Perform translations from Spanish to English as needed.
  • Complete additional related tasks as required.

Required Qualifications

  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills in both English and Spanish.
  • Strong understanding of editing standards and publishing practices.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Proficient in copyediting and proofreading in Spanish.
  • Demonstrated excellence in English-Spanish translation.
  • Willingness to learn and develop skills pertinent to the role.
  • Fluency in English with native proficiency in Spanish.

Educational Background

  • Authorization to work in the U.S.
  • Bachelor's degree in translation or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Three to five years of professional translation and editing experience.
  • Familiarity with translation memory software is advantageous.
  • Understanding of the Alcoholics Anonymous service structure is a plus.

Work Environment

  • In-person work is required for a minimum of three days each week.
  • Flexibility for occasional weekend or evening work during peak periods.
  • Ability to work at a desk for extended periods, utilizing a computer.
  • Comfortable in a standard office environment with typical noise levels.
