Job Summary

The Nurse Specialist provides skilled medical services to patients in a variety of healthcare settings. The Nurse Specialist, or RN, is responsible for working with other healthcare professionals to help treat patients with various injuries, illnesses, or disabilities.

Responsibilities
  • Complies with ATC Chicago policies and procedures.
  • Provides general care services, including assessment, analysis, planning, implementation, and evaluation.
  • Assesses healthcare needs of patients through routine assessments and develops, implements, and evaluates individualized nursing and healthcare plans accordingly.
  • Performs health screenings of patients or clients.
  • Responds to emergency healthcare needs of patients.
  • Collects and records data specific to health status of patients or clients.
  • Administers medications/treatments as prescribed by medical practitioners.
  • Instructs patients in treatment methods prescribed by medical practitioners/interdisciplinary treatment teams.
  • Provides healthcare instruction and education to individuals and others relating to the promotion of health and prevention or management of illness, disease, injury, or disabilities.
  • Maintains confidentiality related to patient, family, client facility, and staff in accordance with the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA).
  • Provides patient care in a non-judgmental, non-discriminatory manner that considers cultural diversity and age appropriateness so that autonomy, rights, and dignity are preserved.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements
  • Completion of an accredited Registered Nurse-RN program of study.
  • CWOCN or WCC wound care certification mandatory.
  • Current and unencumbered Registered Nurse-RN license in the state of practice.
  • At least 3 years of nursing experience in a hospital and at least two years of recent acute care experience in wound care as a Registered Nurse.
  • Background screening as required by the state or contract.
  • OIG, SAM, OFAC, and NSO screening.
  • Current health provider CPR from the American Heart Association at the BLS level.
  • Hepatitis B Statement or Declination [OSHA 29 CFR, f)(2)].
  • Tuberculosis screening as required by the state or contract.
  • Drug screening as required by the contract.
  • Full COVID vaccination plus at least 1 booster.
  • CWOCN Wound care certification or WCC Wound Care Certification.
