Job Summary:

The Rehabilitation Therapist is responsible for providing individualized assessment, treatment planning, and implementation of rehabilitation programs to patients with medical, psychiatric, developmental disabilities, substance abuse, sensory impairments, or other disabling conditions. The ideal candidate will possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with patients, families, and healthcare teams.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct comprehensive assessments to identify patient needs and develop individualized treatment plans.
  • Implement and lead structured therapeutic groups, counseling, and education programs to promote patient progress and independence.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to ensure seamless care coordination and effective communication.
  • Monitor patient progress, modify treatment plans as needed, and develop discharge plans to ensure optimal outcomes.
  • Ensure patient safety, maintain accurate documentation, and adhere to hospital policies and procedures.
Qualifications:
  • Current Certification as a Recreation Therapist (National, CTRS or State, RTC) or Certification/License as an Art Therapist, Music Therapist, or Dance Movement Therapist.
  • Bachelor's Degree in a related field, such as Art, Music, Dance Movement, Psychology, Sociology, Kinesiology, or Education.
  • 1 year of paid clinical experience in a psychiatric and/or acute care hospital or community setting.
  • AHA Basic Life Support certification.
  • Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English.
  • Ability to work variable shifts, including evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Ability to maintain flexibility and composure in a constantly changing environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Previous 2 years of experience as a Recreational/Rehabilitation Therapist in an acute care hospital or community setting.
  • Bilingual skills to communicate effectively with patients and families.
