Job Summary

BronxWorks is seeking a dedicated and compassionate individual to join our team as an Early Childhood Educator. In this role, you will play a vital part in shaping the lives of young children and supporting their growth and development.

Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement engaging lesson plans that cater to the diverse needs of children aged 0-5 years.
  • Collaborate with the Director of Children's Services to design and implement program goals and activities that promote early childhood development.
  • Provide a nurturing and supportive environment that fosters children's physical, emotional, and cognitive growth.
  • Implement various educational, recreational, and social activities that promote development and growth.
  • Engage children in team-building activities that promote social skills and emotional intelligence.
  • Assist children with dressing, toilet training, and ensure sanitary conditions.
  • Provide classroom management and maintain a safe and organized learning environment.
  • Attend regular staff meetings and training sessions to stay updated on best practices in early childhood education.
  • Meet with the program coordinator and/or program director for supervision and feedback.
  • Act as a liaison with parents and communicate effectively with them about their child's progress.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in education or early childhood education required.
  • At least four years of experience working in an early childhood education setting preferred.
  • Bilingual skills in English/Spanish are a plus.
  • Engaging personality, attention to detail, and strong communication skills are essential.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite and other standard business technology required.
Physical Requirements
  • Excellent time management and communication skills.
  • Good writing skills.
  • Ability to work with infants and preschool children from ages 0-5 years.
  • Ability to use a computer for prolonged periods.
  • Ability to occasionally lift and/or move up to 30 pounds.
  • Ability to stand, walk, or sit for long periods of time.
  • Ability to climb five flights of stairs.
  • Ability to bend and retrieve objects and/or documents.
  • Ability to travel in the boroughs of New York City and its adjacent countries via public transportation.
  • Ability to travel for minimum of 1 mile within a reasonable amount of time in all types of weather, including inclement weather.
