We are seeking a highly motivated and compassionate Peer Support Specialist to join our team at Volunteers of America Mid-States. As a Peer Support Specialist, you will play a vital role in supporting individuals in their recovery journey from substance use disorders.
Key Responsibilities- Maintain accurate project logs, reports, and records in designated files and databases.
- Provide recovery education and support to service recipients throughout their recovery journey, from pre-recovery engagement to sustained recovery maintenance.
- Model recovery success by demonstrating that recovery is possible and providing a positive influence on both individuals in recovery and staff.
- Assist individuals in identifying their personal interests, goals, strengths, and weaknesses regarding recovery and develop a personalized recovery plan.
- Facilitate the transition from professionally directed service plans to self-directed recovery plans, promoting self-advocacy and community involvement.
- Identify and support linkages to community resources, including mutual self-help groups, professional services, and educational opportunities.
- Develop relationships with community groups and agencies to enhance access to resources and support.
- Maintain contact with individuals after they leave the program to ensure ongoing success and provide re-engagement support as needed.
- Develop and implement ongoing community training opportunities to promote recovery and support.
- High School Graduate or GED
- Ky Certified Peer Support Specialist preferred
- Valid KY Driver's License and current automobile insurance required
- 2 years of demonstrated, successful, sustained recovery preferred
- Familiarity with MS Office and proficiency in MS Outlook, Word, and PowerPoint
