Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Detention Officer to join our team at a correctional facility. As a Detention Officer, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safety and security of our facility, as well as providing support to our clients and staff.

Key Responsibilities
  • Supervise and Monitor Detainees: Oversee the daily activities of detainees in living, recreation, dining, and visitation areas, ensuring their safety and well-being.
  • Coordinate Movement and Emergency Response: Conduct counts, provide emergency response as needed, and ensure the smooth operation of our facility.
  • Conduct Shakedowns and Confiscate Contraband: Conduct regular searches for contraband materials and confiscate prohibited items as per policies and procedures.
  • Maintain Accurate Records: Keep detailed logs on detainees, including disciplinary reports, and ensure accurate record-keeping.
  • Provide Medical and Emotional Support: Provide prompt and appropriate assistance to detainees who have been injured, ill, or have suffered trauma.
  • Report Maintenance and Repair Needs: Identify and report any maintenance or repair needs to ensure our facility remains clean and safe.
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent: A high school diploma or equivalent certification is required for this role.
  • College Coursework and Training: College coursework and advanced training in behavioral sciences, correctional services, or a related field are preferred.
  • State Requirements: Possession of applicable state requisites for employment is required.
  • Physical and Mental Demands: Ability to work overtime, handle physical and mental stress, and be physically alert on any shift assigned.
  • Age Requirement: Must be at least 21 years of age or older.
