Position Overview:
The Plastic Surgery division at Corewell Health is actively seeking two skilled physicians to collaborate with Dr. Ronald Ford in establishing a specialized reconstructive microsurgery unit. This unit will play a crucial role in the treatment of patients needing breast reconstruction, oncologic head and neck reconstruction, limb salvage, lymphedema management, and extensive oncologic reconstruction, working alongside multidisciplinary teams.
Candidate Profile:
Ideal candidates should possess a keen interest in and have completed fellowship training in reconstructive microsurgery. They must be adept at functioning within a collaborative environment alongside our fellowship-trained oncologic breast surgeons. Additionally, candidates will be expected to provide comprehensive plastic surgical care services.
Educational Contributions:
Applicants will be encouraged to engage in resident education, fostering the development of residents' microsurgical skills. The Corewell Health/Michigan State University College of Human Medicine Plastic Surgery Integrated Residency program promotes a collegial atmosphere, emphasizing rigorous academic pursuits, abundant research opportunities, and a commitment to excellence.
Career Advancement:
This position offers a unique opportunity for a plastic surgeon at the assistant or associate professor level to build and expand an academic practice within a robust residency program. There is potential for advancement into the role of residency associate program director.
Compensation and Benefits:
The compensation package includes malpractice insurance, health, dental, disability, and life insurance. Paid time off is available for vacation, parental leave, illness, continuing medical education (CME), and relocation assistance.
Qualifications:
- Medical Degree (MD or DO)
- Board-eligible or Board-certified in Plastic Surgery
- Fellowship trained in Microsurgery
- Eligible for certification by the American Board of Plastic Surgery
