Job Opportunity

We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Special Education Teacher to join our team in Albemarle, NC.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) for students with disabilities.
  • Adapt and modify general education curriculum to meet the needs of students with varying abilities.
  • Collaborate with general education teachers, school staff, and parents to support student learning and progress.
  • Use a variety of instructional techniques and strategies to meet students' needs and ensure academic growth.
  • Monitor and assess student progress, adjusting instruction as necessary.
  • Provide a safe and positive learning environment for all students.
  • Participate in IEP meetings, parent-teacher conferences, and other professional meetings as required.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of student performance and progress.
  • Stay current with best practices and developments in special education.
Qualifications
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Special Education or a related field. Master's degree preferred.
  • Licensure: North Carolina Professional Educators License in Special Education (K-12). Must meet North Carolina Department of Public Instruction requirements.
  • Certifications: Appropriate teaching certification in Special Education. Any additional certifications as required by the state of North Carolina.
  • Experience: Prior experience working with students with disabilities preferred. Experience developing and implementing IEPs is a plus.
  • Skills: Strong understanding of special education laws and regulations. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to work collaboratively with a team. Strong organizational and time management skills. Patience, creativity, and a passion for teaching students with special needs.
Working Conditions
  • This position may require lifting and moving of materials and equipment.
  • The teacher may need to assist students with physical needs, including mobility and personal care.
  • Work may involve exposure to communicable diseases and bodily fluids.
