We are seeking a highly skilled Medical Laboratory Scientist II to join our team at UNC Health. As a key member of our clinical laboratory team, you will be responsible for processing and analyzing specimens, verifying results, and maintaining laboratory equipment.
Key Responsibilities- Perform analysis by loading specimens onto various instruments, reviewing and recording results, and approving results as warranted.
- Maintain and calibrate instruments in accordance with quality control standards, perform proficiency testing, and participate in root cause analysis.
- Receive and process specimens, ensuring proper identification and labeling, and troubleshoot instrumentation when necessary.
- Train and orient new staff, provide peer direction, and supervise laboratory technicians in daily work.
- Promote a safe and clean hospital environment, adhering to standard precautions and principles of infection control.
- Bachelor's Degree in a related field.
- Certification as a Medical Laboratory Scientist by the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) Board of Certification.
- Two years of experience working in a laboratory setting (preferred).
This is a full-time, evening job with a standard 40-hour workweek. The work assignment is onsite at our hospital location.
