Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Travel Nurse RN to join our team at the University of Virginia Medical Center. As a Travel Nurse RN, you will have the opportunity to work in a dynamic and fast-paced environment, providing high-quality patient care and contributing to the success of our healthcare team.

Responsibilities
  • Provide direct patient care to patients with various medical conditions, including those undergoing chemotherapy, oncology, and infusion treatments.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to develop and implement individualized patient care plans.
  • Administer medications and treatments as prescribed by physicians, and monitor patients for adverse reactions.
  • Conduct thorough assessments of patients' physical and emotional needs, and provide education and support to patients and their families.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient outcomes and satisfaction.
Requirements
  • Current RN licensure in the state of Virginia or ability to obtain licensure prior to start date.
  • ONS certification required for chemotherapy, oncology, and infusion RNs.
  • ACLS and BLS certifications preferred, but not required.
  • VA nursing license and Epic experience required.
Work Environment

The Inpatient Oncology unit at the University of Virginia Medical Center is a 28-bed adult acute care hematology/oncology unit, as well as a 15-bed intermediate care (IMU) Stem Cell Transplant Unit (SCTU). The nurse-to-patient ratio for this unit is 1:4, and the work schedule is 36 or 48 hours per week, with every other weekend and holiday rotation.
