Job Overview

Southland Holdings is in search of a skilled Screed Asphalt Operator to contribute to our ongoing projects. The ideal candidate will possess a solid background in operating screed machinery within the asphalt paving sector.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct routine maintenance and thorough inspections of equipment.
  • Operate machinery safely and efficiently, adhering to all safety protocols.
  • Ensure the screed is clean and correctly calibrated before and after each shift, tailored to the specific paving requirements.
  • Monitor and adjust temperature settings as necessary.
  • Modify screed paving reference components to align with project specifications, including width, depth, grade, and slope.
  • Guarantee proper interaction between gates and the paving surface.
  • Diagnose issues and implement necessary adjustments to the screed during paving operations.
  • Install and remove electronic grade control systems.
  • Support the paving crew with site preparation and additional tasks as required.
  • Actively participate as a key team member, contributing to the overall success of the project.
  • Attend daily safety briefings and adhere to safety policies and procedures.
  • Adapt work hours to meet project demands, including nights and weekends.
  • Work effectively in various weather conditions, whether hot or cold.
  • Perform other assigned duties as needed.
Qualifications
  • A minimum of 1 year of experience in operating asphalt machinery.
  • Strong commitment to maintaining jobsite safety.
  • Proven track record of safe work practices.

Salary is competitive and commensurate with experience, ranging from $20 to $25 per hour.
