Job Title: RN Supervisor

Mass General Brigham is seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) Med Surg Supervisor to lead a team of nursing staff in Cambridge, Massachusetts.

Job Summary:

The RN Supervisor will be responsible for facilitating optimal utilization of nursing staff, providing administrative/clinical supervision and consultation, and promoting problem-solving approaches for conflict resolution. The successful candidate will collaborate with Nursing Directors and other departments to ensure quality patient care.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Supervise nursing staff (RN and MHS staff) in their day-to-day duties on behalf of Nursing Leadership
  • Provide support during medical and psychiatric emergencies and assist with debrief activities
  • Coordinate and facilitate night shift admissions or transfers to emergency departments, following Admissions department processes
  • Perform administrative duties, including assisting with staffing (e.g. unplanned absences and schedule issues)
  • Complete documentation for necessary forms
  • Triage and expedite issues of concern to the Administrator on Call
  • Provide an on-site clinical leadership presence for troubleshooting issues that may arise
  • Collaborate with patients and nursing staff to ensure quality of care
  • Communicate information to relevant departments, including Intake
  • Provide nursing staff with clinical instruction or guidance, when required
  • Assist with orientation of new night staff
  • Ensure policies and procedures for patient care are in compliance
  • Maintain standards required by regulatory and accrediting bodies
  • Facilitate resolution of questions and issues relating to departmental operations
  • Provide on-site supervision, in the absence of the Nursing Director or Manager
  • Interface collaboratively with adjunct services and departments
  • Communicate in a timely manner to relevant personnel on other shifts
  • Procure supplies, equipment or medications, as needed
Requirements:
  • Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing
  • Master's degree in psychiatric nursing or BSN degree
  • Currently licensed as a Registered Nurse in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts
  • MSN – 18 months experience in psychiatric inpatient setting
  • BSN – 3 years experience in a psychiatric setting
