Job Title: Substitute Lead Caregiver

At ESS, we are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Substitute Lead Caregiver to join our team. As a Substitute Lead Caregiver, you will be responsible for providing high-quality childcare to children aged six weeks to three years.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement lesson plans based on the assessment of each child's development and in adherence to our philosophy and curriculum.
  • Compile and maintain all reports, records, and other documents as appropriate.
  • Assess the development of children on an ongoing basis.
  • Create and maintain a welcoming classroom environment that is conducive to stimulating children's social, emotional, intellectual, and physical growth.
  • Provide and support a safe learning environment.
  • Respond appropriately to the individual needs of children in regards to relationships, environment, safety, health, nutrition, and guidance.
  • Maintain high-quality childcare based on developmentally appropriate practices and state licensing standards.
  • Collaborate with coworkers and Administration to ensure continuity of curriculum and high standards of quality across all classrooms.
  • Promote a culture of inclusiveness by actively demonstrating respect for diverse racial and cultural circumstances and experiences.
  • Communicate with children in a positive manner and utilize age-appropriate classroom management techniques.
  • Communicate effectively and clearly with parents, staff, and administrators in both verbal and written form.
  • Supervise and mentor members of your teaching team.
  • Work in a cooperative manner with all staff members.
  • Understand and show respect for confidentiality of children, parents, and other staff.
  • Complete a minimum of 24 hours of professional development annually.
  • Attend all required staff development and faculty meetings.
  • Assume other responsibilities in the absence of staff.
  • Comply with universal precautions and infection control guidelines and procedures.
Requirements:
  • Minimum age of 18 years.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • CDA (Child Development Associates) credential (preferred).
  • Minimum of three-five years experience teaching in a licensed childcare setting (preferred).
  • Experience working with children aged six weeks to three years.
Working Conditions:

Prolonged standing, frequent reaching, bending, stooping, and ability to participate and conduct floor activities and gross motor activities with children. Moderate lifting (15-44 pounds), moderate carrying (15-44 pounds), may lift and move classroom equipment and furniture. Occasional prolonged and irregular work hours, inside and outside work, regular exposure to noise, ability to supervise children (physically, visually, and auditorily).
