KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Assists in gathering patient information, including personal details, medical history, and the purpose of the visit (e.g., primary concerns, medication history, allergies).
  2. Measures vital signs such as blood pressure, temperature, oxygen levels, and heart rate, along with height, weight, and pain assessment.
  3. Conducts health screenings as directed by healthcare providers, ensuring adherence to established competencies.
  4. Accurately records collected data in the department's Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system, facilitating effective communication and documentation of patient care activities.
  5. Maintains examination rooms with necessary supplies and equipment, performing regular inventory checks and placing orders as needed.
  6. Prepares patients and examination rooms for assessments and minor procedures, assisting healthcare providers while adhering to sterile techniques when required.
  7. Administers medications as prescribed by healthcare providers, following proper verification protocols.
  8. Keeps detailed logs and performs required checks as instructed by department leadership.
  9. Upholds the integrity of medical records and patient rights, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and organizational policies.
  10. Demonstrates strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills, fostering positive relationships with patients and team members.

ADDITIONAL DUTIES:

  1. Adheres to safety principles and practices, particularly concerning communicable diseases.
  2. Utilizes proper English grammar, spelling, and basic math skills in daily tasks.
  3. Effectively prioritizes responsibilities and communicates with supervisors.
  4. Handles phone communications and utilizes office equipment proficiently.

EDUCATION, SKILLS & CERTIFICATIONS:

  1. High School diploma or equivalent.
  2. Completion of a medical assistant training program resulting in certification.
  3. Familiarity with medical terminology.
  4. Basic knowledge of common diagnostic tests.
  5. Understanding of service authorizations and insurance processes.
  6. Bilingual skills (English/Spanish) are preferred.
