Fire Sprinkler Technician Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled Fire Sprinkler Technician to join our team at Marmic Fire & Safety Co. As a Fire Sprinkler Technician, you will be responsible for installing, maintaining, and inspecting fire suppression systems to ensure the safety of our clients and their properties.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Install and repair sprinkler and hose systems, fire mains, underground systems, and underground closed valves.
  • Inspect and test systems, repair defective, worn, or broken parts, and perform National Fire Protection Association inspections and testing on existing systems or new installations.
  • Review upcoming customers' needs and stock your company-owned vehicle with parts that may be needed for each job.
  • Select pipe sizes and materials, measure and mark pipes for cutting and threading, assemble and secure pipes, tubes, and fittings, and turn off existing systems to secure new pipes.
  • Service and troubleshoot wet/dry systems, fire pumps-based fire sprinkler systems, and backflows, including repair and internal inspections of systems.
  • Cut and bore holes in pipes, according to blueprints and specifications.
  • Clean and modify current sprinkler systems.
  • Use your knowledge of practical engineering applications and follow NFPA codes and standards.

Requirements:

  • A high school diploma or equivalent, required.
  • At least 3-5 years of industry experience working on fire sprinkler systems.
  • Certifications: NICET and a Backflow License are preferred.
  • Must hold a valid driver's license and a clean driving record, required.
  • Have a demonstrated track record of reliability, a strong work ethic, professional attitude, and attention to detail, as well as experience including strong organizational, problem-solving, and time management skills.
  • Strong communication and documentation skills, both verbally and in writing.
  • Excellent customer service skills to interact with employees, customers, and vendors in a professional manner.
  • Ability to work independently and within a team in a fast-paced and high-volume environment with emphasis on accuracy and timeliness.
  • Ability to use hand tools.
  • Consent for background screening upon hire.
  • Capable of performing physical labor, including carrying and moving equipment and tools of more than 50lbs.
  • Ability to work in somewhat difficult positions, such as climbing ladders, high-lift equipment, working in crawl spaces, above ceilings, etc.
