About the PositionUtah State University is seeking a highly motivated and experienced individual to serve as an Intramural Instructor for the USU Eastern Campus Life Department. This is a unique opportunity to promote physical fitness, wellness, and a positive lifestyle among USU students.
The successful candidate will be responsible for planning, organizing, and teaching assigned intramural sports and recreational activities. This includes grading, engaging with students, and ensuring they understand course expectations. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of intramural sports, including rules, regulations, and techniques.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and organize one to two classes per week related to specific intramural sports
- Teach basics and fundamentals, and organize practices for the first four weeks, then organize a playoff bracket for the last three weeks of the semester
- Ensure student safety and foster a positive and educational environment during all activities
- Collaborate with the Campus Life Department to enhance the intramural program
- Follow all University policies and procedures for engaging with students during activities
- Provide thorough safety instructions before each class
- Ensure all sports equipment is properly maintained, safe, and ready for use
- Monitor student activities during classes to ensure safety and compliance with rules
- Assess students' skills, participation, and knowledge throughout the course and provide constructive feedback
- Encourage a welcoming and inclusive environment for all students
- Keep detailed records of class activities and student participation
Qualifications
- At least 1-2 years of experience in related intramural sport activity
- Knowledge of and experience coaching intramural sports
- Strong understanding of intramural sports, including rules, regulations, and techniques
- Comprehensive knowledge of safety protocols, first aid, and emergency response strategies related to sports activities
- Effective communication and organizational skills
Salary Information
This position offers a competitive salary of $12,000.00 per credit hour, providing a great opportunity for professional growth and development.
