Transportation Specialist

Job Summary:

We are seeking a reliable and safety-conscious Bus Driver to transport students to and from school and special events. The ideal candidate will have a valid commercial driver's license with S&P endorsement and a strong commitment to providing excellent customer service.

Key Responsibilities:

• Drive a school bus on a designated schedule and route, ensuring the safety and well-being of students
• Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the vehicle, reporting any operating or equipment deficiencies
• Maintain the cleanliness of the assigned vehicle, including sweeping floors and washing windows
• Obey traffic laws and observe mandatory safety regulations for school bus and automobile operations
• Ensure passenger safety, including putting children in car seats and maintaining discipline on the bus
• Transport only authorized students and report any accidents or incidents
• Conduct periodic emergency vehicle evacuation drills and record mileage, student counts, arrival and departure times
• Maintain various records and prepare reports on activities, as required

Requirements:

• High school diploma or GED
• Valid commercial driver's license with S&P endorsement in the Commonwealth of Virginia
• Minimal experience operating automotive equipment, or equivalent combination of education and experience

Working Conditions:

This position requires frequent exertion of up to 10 pounds of force and occasional exertion of up to 50 pounds of force. The work environment is generally loud, with exposure to outdoor weather conditions and potential exposure to bloodborne pathogens.
