Work Schedule:
The typical work hours are Monday to Friday, with shifts from 6:30 AM to 3:00 PM or 11:00 AM to 7:30 PM. Weekend work may be required on occasion to assist the On-Call Anesthesia Provider.
Key Responsibilities:
The Anesthesia Support Specialist will be responsible for a variety of tasks, including but not limited to:
- Preparing and organizing all anesthesia equipment and supplies for surgical and labor and delivery procedures.
- Cleaning and restocking used materials as necessary.
- Setting up operating rooms and ensuring all equipment is ready for use.
- Responding promptly to the requests of anesthesia providers and addressing equipment malfunctions.
- Performing routine maintenance and cleaning of anesthesia machines.
- Keeping the Anesthesia Element Chief informed of any urgent equipment needs.
- Maintaining appropriate inventory levels of non-controlled substances and conducting regular checks on drug stock.
- Identifying and disposing of outdated medications in accordance with established protocols.
Qualifications:
To be considered for this position, candidates must meet the following criteria:
- Education: Completion of an Anesthesia training program accredited by the American Society of Anesthesia Technologists and Technicians (ASATT) and current certification as a Certified Anesthesia Technician (Cer. A.T.) or Certified Anesthesia Technologist (Cer. A.TT.).
- Experience: A minimum of two years of experience as an anesthesia technician or medical technician with relevant operating room experience within the last five years, or graduation from an ASATT accredited two-year educational program in Anesthesia.
- Certification: Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from AHA or ARC.
- Security Clearance: Ability to pass a government background check/security clearance.
