About The Salvation Army USA Central Territory

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate individual to join our team as an Intake Worker. In this role, you will provide support to our clients by conducting intake interviews, assigning rooms, and distributing necessary items.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct intake interviews of incoming residents into shelter
  • Assign a proper room and distribute needed bedding and personal items
  • Provide necessary supervision of shelter and residents, assuring that rules and policies are being followed
  • Maintain an awareness of client needs
  • Answer telephone calls, taking messages when appropriate
  • Clean shelter areas as necessary
  • Prepare snacks for shelter residents
  • Oversee lunch and dinner preparations in dining room
  • Review log book and update entries as needed
  • Perform room inspections
  • Distribute medications as needed
  • Supervise volunteers and community service workers, when assigned

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Experience working with the homeless population desirable
