As a HSE Specialist, you will play a crucial role in ensuring a culture of safety, health, and environmental responsibility within the organization.
HSE CultureUnder the direction of the HSE Manager, Manufacturing, you will foster a culture where safety, health, and environment are ingrained as core values. This includes:
- Developing and implementing effective HSE programs and procedures
- Coaching and developing operations HSE resources to be effective HSE leaders
- Participating in HSE teams and driving key initiatives
You will analyze HSE conditions and behaviors, recommending changes to continuously improve performance to world-class levels. This includes:
- Conducting regular HSE audits and assessments
- Developing and implementing corrective actions
- Tracking and reporting HSE performance metrics
As a HSE Specialist, you will be responsible for ensuring compliance with company and regulatory agency policies, including federal, state, and local legislation and regulations pertaining to HSE. This includes:
- Developing and implementing compliance programs and procedures
- Conducting regular compliance audits and assessments
- Providing training and guidance to employees on HSE compliance
Your key responsibilities will include:
- Assisting in performing PSSR's and PHA's on necessary applications
- Reviewing low-level MOC's
- Conducting HSE meetings as required
- Performing HSE training of plant personnel
- Assisting with the annual HSE Management System evaluation
- Assisting in timely completion of Incident Investigations
- Driving completion of open HSE action items in the Corrective/Preventative Action System
- Interfacing with operators and leadership on HSE issues
- Aiding in the development and implementation of effective communication and other safety-related activities
- Performing periodic assessments, documenting findings, and tracking to completion
- Assisting in maintaining the industrial hygiene program
- Participating in project walk-downs and planning
- Providing guidance and direction to all plant personnel on safety questions and concerns
Education: Bachelor's degree in environmental, health, and safety or related field preferred. CSP, CSHO, or other recognized designation preferred.
Required Skills & Competencies: 5+ years' direct HSE-related experience, thorough and current knowledge of state and/or national HSE regulations and requirements, chemical manufacturing experience preferred, highly developed planning/organizational skills, adaptable, strong analytical and problem-solving skills, excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal skills.
