Job Title: TESOL Teacher

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated TESOL teacher to join our team at Capital Preparatory Schools. As a TESOL teacher, you will play a critical role in supporting the academic success of our multilingual learners.

Job Summary

The TESOL teacher will be responsible for developing and implementing curriculum consistent with school/network goals and objectives. You will promote a classroom environment that is safe and conducive to individualized and small group instruction and student learning. You will also develop lesson plans and instructional materials that support language acquisition and translate lesson plans into learning experiences to develop pertinent sequential assignments, challenge students, and effectively use time for instruction.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Develop and administer curriculum consistent with school/network goals and objectives.
  2. Promote a classroom environment that is safe and conducive to individualized and small group instruction and student learning.
  3. Develop lesson plans and instructional materials that support language acquisition.
  4. Conduct ongoing assessment of student learning and progress, and modify instructional methods to fit individual scholar's needs.
  5. Screen Home Language Surveys.
  6. Maintain and update TESOL/Bilingual scholar files for accurate record keeping in accordance with state local and federal mandates.
  7. Identify and assess scholars for eligibility for TESOL/ Bilingual services.
  8. Maintain complete and accurate records of student progress and evidence of growth and progress.
  9. Provide a nurturing and supportive learning environment that encourages student responsibility and incorporates challenging instructional strategies.
  10. Utilize native language support in order to make the curriculum accessible to Multilingual Learners.
  11. Act as a liaison between the scholar and other illuminators, staff members, and families.
  12. Administer federal standardized assessment (LAS Links).
  13. Provide guidance and professional development to teachers on strategies to support Multilingual Learners.
  14. Perform any and all duties as may be assigned by Administration.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Passion and enthusiasm for scholars.
  • State of CT TESOL Certification (111) requirements with proficiency in Spanish or (009) CT Bilingual Certification.
  • Motor Vehicle Operator's License or ability to provide own transportation.
  • Bachelor's from an accredited college or university in education discipline applicable to teaching assignment.
  • Master's Degree preferred.
  • Successful prior teaching experience with multilingual students for the appropriate grade level preferred.
Compensation

Salary for this position is competitive and commensurate with experience. Capital Preparatory Schools offers a comprehensive benefits package. This is a full-time, exempt position.
