Job Title: Platform Privacy Engineer

At Apple, we're committed to delivering great features and great privacy to our users. As a Platform Privacy Engineer, you'll play a critical role in designing and shipping innovative features within our products to strengthen privacy and deliver a seamless user experience.

This is a unique opportunity to work across the organization, from operating system internals to user interface, and impact software platforms touching millions of our customers and developers worldwide.

You'll primarily work on our backend systems to improve transparency and trust for our app developers, while also collaborating cross-functionally to work on user-facing features.

As a successful candidate, you'll be passionate about privacy, able to work through challenging problems independently, and enjoy context switching between projects.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and implement innovative features to strengthen privacy and deliver a great user experience
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to work on user-facing features
  • Work on backend systems to improve transparency and trust for app developers
  • Research, experiment, and test new solutions to novel problems

Requirements:

  • 5+ years of practical background in software engineering, including building, maintaining, and debugging scalable and high-throughput cloud/container-based services
  • Experience in building and maintaining applications in cloud (i.e., Docker, Kubernetes)
  • Understanding of binary linkers, toolchains, and symbols data
  • Ability to write maintainable, testable, and observable code in Python, Go, Java, or other C-based languages

Preferred Qualifications:

  • BA/BS in Computer Science or equivalent professional experience
  • Passion for user privacy
  • Strong background in data structures and system architecture
  • Strong collaboration, communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills

Compensation and Benefits:

At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. The base pay range for this role is between $135,400 and $250,600, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.

Apple employees also have the opportunity to become an Apple shareholder through participation in Apple's discretionary employee stock programs.
