Position Overview
We are seeking a Water and Wastewater Treatment Operator to join our team. Under direct supervision, this role involves performing routine tasks associated with the operation of water and wastewater treatment facilities. Responsibilities include assisting in maintaining compliance with environmental standards and ensuring the safety and cleanliness of the facilities.
Responsibilities
- Operate and maintain treatment equipment, ensuring adherence to environmental regulations and company policies.
- Conduct repairs on equipment and coordinate with external vendors for major maintenance needs.
- Assist in emergency response procedures related to chemical spills or overflow incidents.
- Maintain accurate records of operations, including meter readings and chemical usage.
- Ensure cleanliness and maintenance of treatment plants and associated facilities.
- Report safety concerns and maintain a safe working environment.
- Perform inspections of facilities and vehicles as required.
- Address customer inquiries as directed.
- Undertake additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Experience
- Minimum of 2 years of mechanical experience is required.
Education and Certification
- High school diploma is required, with the ability to obtain a First-Level operator license within one year of employment.
- A valid driver's license is necessary.
Preferred Qualifications
- Possession of a first-level operator license is preferred.
- Experience in chemical treatment and utility operations is advantageous.
Skills
- Ability to perform physical tasks, including lifting and mechanical repairs.
- Proficient in reading technical information and maintaining operational records.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Familiarity with computer applications and ability to learn internal software.
Work Environment
- Availability for after-hours and weekend on-call support may be necessary.
- Some travel within service areas may be required.
- Shift work and weekend scheduling may be part of the role.
