About This Position:

As a Speech Therapist at Arroyo Grande Community Hospital, you will play a vital role in the rehabilitation and recovery of patients with speech and language disorders. Our hospital is part of CommonSpirit Health, a leading not-for-profit healthcare system in the nation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Evaluate patients participating in the treatment program and plan individualized therapy plans.
  • Administer speech therapy modalities, procedures, and tests to assess patient progress.
  • Document accurate patient records and progress notes to ensure continuity of care.
  • Maintain effective communication with referring physicians, co-workers, and patients' families.
  • Ensure a safe and clean work environment by identifying and reporting hazards and equipment malfunctions.
  • Participate in departmental functions, in-service education, and other tasks to support effective departmental operations.

Requirements:

  • Two years of professional experience as a speech therapist, preferably working with adult and child language and speech disorders and swallowing.
  • Licensed or eligible for licensure by the State of California Board of Medical Quality Assurance.
  • CPR certification.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to teach techniques and procedures of speech therapy to patients and their caregivers.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision.
