Job Summary:As an Exercise Physiologist at Gundersen Health System, you will have the opportunity to provide care to patients in our brand-new hospital. We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced professional to implement and supervise a physical exercise program for disease and healthy populations.
Main Responsibilities:
- Effectively perform specified assessments preceding, during, and after exercise, and initiate appropriate interventions to maintain patient safety.
- Direct patients in the performance of prescribed exercise while at the facility and instruct patients in home exercise.
- Communicate the program philosophy and goals of the exercise program to patients and assist patients in establishing appropriate goals of rehabilitation.
- Implement appropriate teaching and counseling for patients and family members.
- Communicate effectively with team members to provide quality patient care.
- Evaluate the effectiveness of various interventions and chart progress at appropriate intervals.
- Obtain appropriate physician referrals, patient information, and assess various referrals to Exercise Physiology, including Pulmonary Rehabilitation and PAD programs.
- Perform other job-related responsibilities as requested.
Requirements:
Education:
Bachelor's of Science degree in Nursing or Bachelor or Master of Science Degree in Exercise Physiology or equivalent.
Work Experience:
Successful completion of clinical internship or advanced training.
License and Certifications:
Current Infant-Adult Basic Life Support for Health Care Providers (with hands-on learning) from one of the following programs; American Heart Association or American Red Cross. ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) within 6 months of hire.
Age-Specific Population Served:
Adults and Geriatric patients (65 years & older).

Category I - All Employees in this job title have a reasonably anticipated risk of occupational exposure to blood and/or other potentially infectious materials.
Environmental Conditions:
Not substantially exposed to adverse environmental conditions (as in typical office or administrative work). Exposed to infectious diseases.
