Job Title: Athletic Trainer

About the Role:

The Pensacola Ice Flyers are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Athletic Trainer to join their medical team. As a key member of the team, you will be responsible for providing top-notch medical care to our players, ensuring their health and well-being throughout the season.

Responsibilities:

  • Player Care: Assist with day-to-day rehabilitation of players, formulate and develop individual return-to-play parameters based on a player's injury, and accurately evaluate and diagnose hockey injuries and general medical conditions.
  • Communication: Possess consistent communication regarding prognosis and progressions with team physicians, Head Coach, coaching staff, and front office staff.
  • Record Keeping: Maintain accurate and complete records of injury and rehabilitation, including daily injury reports.
  • Medical Coordination: Coordinate and schedule physical examinations and medical referrals for athletes to determine their ability to practice and compete.
  • Relationship Building: Cultivate relationships with all Ice Flyers team physicians and medical service providers while being the primary point of contact.
  • Medical Action Plans: Assist in developing, maintaining, and updating medical action plans.
  • Professional Development: Continually research new methods and best practices for the medical treatment of players.
  • Collaboration: Collaborate with organization's strength & conditioning coaches to help maximize each player's performance.
  • Attendance: Attend all games, practices, and training sessions both home and away, as well as player physicals and medical appointments.
  • Inventory Management: Maintain and monitor inventory levels of medical supplies.
  • League Compliance: Ensure all league-mandated medical supplies are set up and available to visiting teams.
  • Professionalism: Demonstrate professionalism at all times, especially in high-stress situations.
  • Additional Responsibilities: Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned by team leadership.

Qualifications:

  • Credentials: BOC Credentialed Athletic Trainer (Master's Degree & CSCS preferred)
  • Licensure: Licensed Athletic Trainer in the state of Florida
  • Experience: Strength and conditioning experience preferred, experience with a professional hockey team is preferred
  • Skills: Exceptional organizational skills and impeccable attention to detail, commitment to excellence, strategic thinking skills, personal accountability, positive attitude, and ability to work well in a team environment
  • Education: Master's Degree in a related field preferred

Compensation:

  • Contract Position: October to May
  • Benefits: Available medical benefits include major medical, dental, and vision
