Overview

James Coffee Company is a renowned specialty coffee establishment with multiple locations in San Diego. Our in-house bakery is dedicated to providing a variety of pastry and viennoiserie products to all our coffee shops.

As a vital member of our pastry team, you will be responsible for all tasks associated with the preparation, mixing, and finishing of our pastry and viennoiserie offerings, all while embodying the vision, culture, and values of James Coffee.

Key Responsibilities

• Arrive promptly and prepared for your shift.
• Familiarize yourself with the pastry and viennoiserie menus and execute each item with precision.
• Maintain cleanliness at your workstation, ensuring it is tidy after each task.
• Follow established recipes and techniques to guarantee consistency and quality in all products.
• Take ownership of your assigned stations each day.
• Assist fellow pastry team members as needed.
• Thoroughly clean all equipment and work areas according to specified procedures.
• Communicate effectively and respectfully with all team members.
• Optimize efficiency in production and manage your time effectively during shifts.
• Seek assistance when necessary.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 1 year of experience in kitchen preparation is preferred.
• Possession of a Food Handler's Certification or the ability to obtain one within 30 days of hire.
• Proficient in English, with strong oral communication skills and a collaborative spirit.
• Maintain a professional appearance and adhere to hygiene standards.
• Strong basic math skills are essential.
• Ability to stand for extended periods (minimum of 8 hours) and perform physical tasks such as lifting up to 50 pounds.
• Capable of safely lifting and maneuvering trays of food weighing up to 40 pounds.

Please note: Candidates must be able to stand and/or walk for the duration of their shifts and be trainable on the safe operation of various equipment necessary for the role. Performance will be evaluated after an initial period and subsequently on a regular basis.
